چکیده
This thesis presents a new technique for the reconstruction of a smooth surface from a set of 3D data points. The reconstructed surface is represented by an everywhere 1 C -continuous subdivision surface which interpolates all the given data points. And the topological structure of the reconstructed surface is exactly the same as that of the data points. The new technique consists of two major steps. First, an efficient surface reconstruction method is applied to produce a polyhedral approximation to the given data points. Second, construct a Doo-Sabin subdivision surface that smoothly passes through all the data points in the given data set. A new technique is presented for the second step in this thesis. The new technique iteratively modifies the vertices of the polyhedral approximation M until a new control mesh M , whose Doo-Sabin subdivision surface interpolates M , is reached. It is proved that, for any mesh M with any size and any topology, the iterative process is always convergent with Doo-Sabin subdivision scheme. The new technique has the advantages of both a local method and a global method, and the surface reconstruction process can reproduce special features such as edges and corners faithfully.

Man-made Surface Structures from Triangulated Point Clouds Photogrammetry aims at reconstructing shape and dimensions of objects captured with cameras, 3D laser scanners or other spatial acquisition systems. While many acquisition techniques deliver triangulated point clouds with millions of vertices within seconds, the interpretation is usually left to the user. Especially when reconstructing ...

This paper describes a new model-based segmentation technique combining desirable properties of physical models (snakes, 2]), shape representation by Fourier parametrization (Fourier snakes, 12]), and modelling of natural shape variability (eigenmodes, 7, 10]). Flexible shape models are represented by a parameter vector describing the mean contour and by a set of eigenmodes of the parameters ch...

This representation is used for geometric surface matching to 3D medical image data, such as from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The parame...
متن کاملA C1 Globally Interpolatory Spline of Arbitrary Topology
Converting point samples and/or triangular meshes to a more compact spline representation for arbitrarily topology is both desirable and necessary for computer vision and computer graphics. This paper presents a C1 manifold interpolatory spline that can exactly pass through all the vertices and interpolate their normals for data input of complicated topological type. Starting from the Powell-Sa...
